“I love that Gloss is a female-owned and operated business and I just always felt really good vibes while following their social media. The environment both online (and now having experienced it in studio!) has always felt so supportive and genuine. I really wanted to be a part of, and support that community. I was sooo nervous the night before the shoot (and the morning of!). Honestly thought I wasn’t going to be able to go through with it! I felt like “I’m going to be so awkward! I can’t do this! I’m terrified. What if my face looks weird, or if I suddenly get that ‘shut down’ feeling and can’t get back in the moment?” I’m also normally a no makeup, hair in a messy bun, scrapes and bruises kind of girl, so this was a huge step outside of my comfort zone! “I think my favourite thing about my shoot was about 2 or 3 poses in, when I realized, “oh my god I’m doing this, and it’s so much fun! I’m not nervous anymore! Wtf!” I had initially worried that my insecurities would get the best of me and that my past would override my ability to be present for the shoot. I can’t emphasize enough that I felt so much more comfortable than I could have ever imagined. Marcee took the time to see what I wanted out of the shoot, if there was anything I was apprehensive about, if there was any part of my body I wanted to highlight (or not!). It meant so much to me. I felt 110% supported and safe the entire way through, and could really relax and be myself. At no time did I feel pressure to do anything I wasn’t comfortable with or excited about doing. I also couldn’t believe how fast the shoot flew by! It felt like hanging out with my girlfriends, connecting and sharing stories, and having a good laugh. “If you’ve ever thought about doing a boudoir shoot, I hope you decide to take a chance and do it! If you’re drawn to it, if you keep coming back to photos of other ladies who have done it, if you feel like “I could never do something like that”, I felt the exact same way! The nerves are totally normal, but push through it because it’s so worth it. You don’t have to pre-think about how to pose or what do to with your head/face because you’re coached through the whole process!
