Boudoir over 40 is the most powerful thing I've done for myself. I'm Kelly, the Gloss Boss and I opened Gloss 11 years ago, in my 30's. I was young and vivacious and didn't truly understand how deeply boudoir could change my life. Now, 11 years later I'm here to say that although I've done countless boudoir shoots and loved every single one of them... the most transformative sessions have been in my 40's. I lost some of that vivacious energy and confidence along the way so I thought it was about time I went back in for a session and reminded myself that I am strong, sexy and smart.
In my 40's I have realized that I don't care so much about what others think and I don't crave outside validation. You know yourself in a different kind of way. When I came up with the concepts for this session I wanted to show how soft, yet powerful I am. My yin & yang. In my 40's I'm doing boudoir for me.
I HIGHLY suggest telling Marcee you want to do some topless or nude art images for prosperities sake. My body has changed immensely over the past 11 years and I'm certainly glad I have images of myself from all seasons of life to look back on when I'm 80!
Denim is my ULTIMATE outfit choice for boudoir and if you look back on any of my previous sessions you'll see I incorporate it into almost all of my shoots. Effortless, casual but sexy as hell!
If I'm wearing lingerie, 9 times out of 10 it's Honey Birdette. If I'm going to do it I might as well go with the sexiest brand I can find, am I right? They are on the pricier side but INSIDERS TIP: sign up for their newsletter where they do 60% off sales frequently!!!
Do you love flowers as much as I do? Then forgo an outfit and ask your local florist for a MASSIVE bouquet! This one from Bears Blooms blew me away and I got to enjoy it for another 10 days after the session.
In my mother's era, 40 was 'over the hill' and boudoir over 40 was unheard of. In todays society I think I speak for lots of women when I say... we're just getting started.
